ONREQONREQ is an Ingres ABF application built by CMU ACIS staff in 1992. It is used primarily for the larger systems and to support software audits. It is still undergoing changes, recent ones being to add module-level user approvers and to send e-mail inquiring about the status of requests.
Carnegie Mellon University Parking System (CMUPS)CMUPS, the CMU Parking System, was developed here in 1989-90. It is an Ingres ABF application and undergoes minor modifications almost every year.
Schedule 25CMU purchased this package that allows the registrar to schedule classrooms. Another application, Schedule 25e, is used to schedule special or one-time events.
Sponsored Research Budget SystemThe enhanced Sponsored Research Proposal Budgeting System has been re-introduced to the campus. The system, which is built using Excel, enables a business manager to build a proposal budget for a sponsored research project calculating all overhead, fringe and expense escalation automatially using University-approved rates. An export mechanism speeds the process of transferring budget data to SPEX-PM (Sponsored Project EXchange-Proposal Monitoring), the campus-wide database of proposal activity. The strongest benefits of the system to end users include the link to SPEX-PM which eliminates rekeying the budget, the assurance that the budget contains the correct calculations of overhead, fringe and escalation, the ability to roll together multiple budgets, and a speedier proposal review in OSR. The system was initially introduced to the research campus community in February 1995 as a "best practice" or a tool which departments might find useful to prepare proposal budgets. While it was adopted by some departments, it was missing a number of key features which prevented wide adoption. This realization led to the decision to enhance the Proposal Budgeting System to provide a more comprehensive tool and to increase campus usage. The design was hastened by government regulations calling for more consistency in budgeting practices. To use the Sponsored Research Proposal Budgeting System, users must have Excel 5.0 and a minimum of 16 MB of memory (RAM). The system can be used on a Mac or Windows-based PC. |
